Jennifer joined the Miss Pierce County board in 2014, after being involved for several years in the Miss America Organization through her daughter, McKinley, Miss Pierce County’s Outstanding Teen 2012 and Miss Greater Tacoma’s Outstanding Teen 2013. Witnessing the personal growth of her daughter and other candidates in this organization has given her great joy. Jennifer has been married to her high school sweetheart, Terrell, for 30 years and is the mother of Tyler and McKinley. She is the co-owner of two small businesses.

McKinley Bowles. Teen Director

McKinley began her journey with the Miss Pierce County Scholarship Program in 2012, when she was crowned Miss Pierce County’s Outstanding Teen. Her platform work with Toys for Tots and Charlie’s Dinosaur sparked her passion for working with children and has been a driving force in her educational and career goals. McKinley graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2017, from Western Oregon State University with a Bachelors Degree in ASL to English Interpreting and a Special Education and Rehabilitation Counseling Minor. In the spring of 2020, she will have completed her pursuit of a Masters Degree in Elementary Education through the University of Washington. McKinley holds this program dear to her heart. She is forever grateful for its influence on her life and for the Board of Directors that she now calls family.

jo-reasons Jo Reasons, President

Jo has been a member of the MPC Board since 1997. Jo spent her professional life at Curtis Senior High School, first as a teacher, then 28 years as a college counselor. Since retiring from her educational career in 2000, she has worked in fall on the United Way campaign for Kitsap County, presided over an investment club, is an elected PCO, and spends many volunteer hours with the Miss Pierce County Scholarship Program

Jennifer joined the Board of the Miss Pierce County Scholarship Program in 2008, as Secretary and in 2012, added the role of Treasurer. She graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Communications.

Debra Carlson, Judges’ Chair

Debra Carlson has been involved with pageants and competitions for over 25 years, first as a mom cheering on her daughter and then as a volunteer. Since 1996, Debra has served on the Board of Miss Pierce County as a chaperone, Assistant Director, and most recently Judges Chair. She enjoys encouraging young women to get involved with volunteerism and watching them grow into confident young women. Debra is the proud mother of two grown children along with her five grandchildren. Debra resides in Puyallup with her husband of 40 years.

Since 1997, Gail has served on the MPC board and has helped guide dozens of outstanding young women into reaching for their full potential through education. As a candidate advocate, she loves watching the personal growth and real world skills gained by each young woman during the pageant season. Gail is retired, after having taught high school for over 40 years.

pat-scottPatricia Scott, Historian / Wardrobe

For the past 35 years, Patricia has been a Flight Attendant for Continental / United Airlines, and has been involved in the Miss America Program since 1991. Patricia has judged Miss America State and Local preliminary pageants throughout the country. She has attended the Miss America Pageant every year, cheering on Miss Washington since 1991.
